Makoney is a block theme for blogs and magazines, with grid layouts for the front page and room for several sections. It is edited in the Site Editor.
The Makoney Theme Overview

Makoney is a theme for blogs and magazines with lots of posts. The front page is a grid: one big lead story, the latest posts in columns below it, then sections with the most recent articles of each category. If you write a lot, Makoney gives you a front page that shows it.
The design is clear and matter-of-fact, with a bold heading font and plenty of room for featured images. Makoney was our first block theme built for the Site Editor, and much of what our later themes do was tried here first.
Built for the Site Editor
The header, the footer and all templates for the front page, posts, pages, archives and search are edited in the Site Editor. The grid areas on the front page are Query Loop blocks, so you decide which category appears in which area and how many posts are shown.
Makoney ships with patterns for the front page, such as a lead story with a large image, a three-column row of the latest posts and a category section with a heading and a link to the archive. Colours and fonts are set under Styles.
What you need
Makoney requires the free Aino Blocks plugin, whose layout blocks the theme’s patterns are built on.
The theme is free and open source. You will find it on WordPress.org and its code on GitHub, where bug reports and suggestions are welcome.
