Architrave is our WordPress theme for blogs and for writing that people read to the end. It’s free, on wordpress.org, and this site runs on it.
In short
- Made for reading: a quiet sidebar, the article on its own sheet, and type that’s easy on the eyes in long texts.
- Your readers decide a few things: text size, light or dark, and a focus mode.
- Lots of small details: contents lists for long posts, a card for every post format, threaded comments with pingbacks in their own list below them, an archive by year and a calm phone layout. English and German.
- Your own look, with Vibetiles: change the design right on the page with Vibetiles and share it as a style. Architrave Extras is now on wordpress.org too.

Made for reading
Lines that aren’t too long, room between them, and headings in a clear order. Long posts get a contents list made from their headings. On a phone, the sidebar turns into one simple bar with a menu, and the article stays just as comfortable to read.
Your readers decide
Text size, light or dark, and a focus mode where everything but the text steps back. On the first visit, Architrave simply follows the reader’s device.
Minimal, close to WordPress
The core blocks and the basics, nothing piled on top. We made Architrave as a base to build on: Vibetiles adds a design panel for changing the look, and more will follow, mostly AI features. We keep working on it, and it stays free.

Vibetiles
Adjust styles, fonts and colours on the page, share styles as links, and give readers a small panel. It grew up inside Architrave. A small library for sharing styles is planned.
Architrave Extras
A player for a post’s spoken version, Copy as Markdown, and every post as Markdown for AI tools.
Want to know more? Why we made it and what’s inside is in the Architrave release post. Vibetiles has its own post with three short tutorials.
