Moog is a block theme for blogs with a bold, playful design and several style variations to switch between. It is built for the Site Editor, so its colours, fonts and templates are all edited there.

The Moog Theme Overview

With Moog we dared to do something we had avoided for a long time: a theme that does not want to be quiet. The type is big and bold, the colours are rich, the spacing is generous. Moog is made for blogs that have a voice of their own and want to show it, whether they are about art, music, travel or everyday life.

The theme is built entirely for the Site Editor. There are no theme options and no Customizer any more. Everything you change about Moog you change right inside WordPress: the header, the footer, the templates for posts, pages and archives. What you see is what your readers see.

Style variations instead of options

The heart of Moog is its style variations. Each variation is a complete design made of a colour palette, a pair of fonts and a set of spacings. You pick one with a single click under Styles in the Site Editor and the whole site changes its clothes, without you touching a single template. One variation is light and calm, one is dark, one is colourful and loud. The preview shows you at once which one fits your blog.

You do not have to stay with the variations, of course. Each one can be adjusted further: swap single colours, choose other fonts or build your own palette. The variations are starting points, not limits.

Templates and template parts

Moog ships with templates for the front page, single posts, pages, archives, search results and the 404 page. On top of that come several template parts for the header and footer, which you can swap and edit in the Site Editor. Featured images, a custom logo and a site icon are supported as usual.

Moog is free and open source. You will find the theme in the WordPress.org directory and its code on GitHub, where bug reports and suggestions are welcome.
