Tatami is a theme with an off canvas menu, a left and a right sidebar and optional footer widgets. It is a classic theme, set up on its own options page.

This is the release post from 13 December 2012, kept as it was written. Prices, coupons and links are of their time; the theme itself is free and open source today. Translated from the German original.

We are finally back online and would like to introduce our newest premium WordPress theme, Tatami. Tatami has a minimalist responsive web design built with the off-canvas technique. On mobile devices with small screens you no longer have to scroll far down to reach widgets or additional page elements. Instead, a tap on the menu buttons on the right and left slides the so-called off-canvas page elements into view. Of course Tatami has a lot more to offer besides its app-like off-canvas layout.

More Tatami features

For example there are handy theme options again, such as the layout option for post images (full width, large or small thumbnails) or beautiful, animated share buttons. Post formats are used again in Tatami’s blog design, and with the help of the WordPress sticky post function featured posts can be highlighted nicely.

A redesign for Elmastudio

As you can easily see, we decided to give our Elmastudio website a fresh coat of paint with the Tatami theme as well. There are still a few small things to do here and there, but we have already reworked the complete WordPress theme pages and of course the blog with the help of Tatami.

The new theme bundle option for Elmastudio theme fans

Besides the redesign we have also been working on offering more options for our WordPress themes. As a first update we would like to introduce our new Elmastudio theme bundle today. If you need several WordPress themes or simply like to change your theme, from today on you can buy all premium Elmastudio themes in a one-year package for 36 € (incl. VAT).     Really nice work on this theme Elma, I will definitely buy it. I have one question though, would it be possible to add a smooth effect for the off-canvas on show/hide?

      @Wassim: Thanks so much for your feedback, happy you like the Tatami theme. There is an smooth slide effect on the show effect. Because we wanted to support older Android version there is no smooth transition effect possible for the hide effect.

    Hi Ellen, great theme, and already installed. Two problems:
    1. FB button doesn’t appear with social buttons on footer of pages.
    2. The WP bar is messed up when logged in and on site. Reinstalled WP, theme, turned off plugins, problem persists across browsers.
