The Kerikeri Theme Overview

The newest Elmastudio WordPress theme Kerikeri is here! Kerikeri is a small, modern blog theme whose responsive, mobile-first layout adapts automatically to different screen formats. Kerikeri is also perfectly suited for publishing posts, photos or videos directly from a smartphone or tablet via the WordPress app.

This way you can easily and quickly share your latest Instagram pictures, videos, links, texts or status updates with your blog readers. WordPress app features such as quick photo or quick video make blogging from mobile devices ever easier, and Kerikeri supports exactly this rather diary-like way of blogging. So you can publish new posts on the go, and blogging is simply even more fun.

Post formats

To make your blog even livelier, Kerikeri supports the WordPress post formats image, gallery, video, audio, status, link, aside, chat and quote. The individual post formats are marked with popular, tumblr-like icons. So that the icons are not displayed blurry on mobile devices with high-resolution screens (retina display, e.g. on the iPhone 4 and the new iPad), all icons are optimized for retina displays.

Theme design

The Kerikeri design is modern and entirely tuned to the needs of a mobile-ready blog theme. Since Kerikeri was developed for quick, uncomplicated, diary-like blogging, the layout concentrates entirely on the blog posts. A navigation, e.g. to a contact or archive page, therefore only exists in the theme’s footer. Instead, two main widgets can be placed below the posts (About and Tags/Categories), so blog readers have the chance to learn more about the author and the topics of the blog. The widgets can be selected directly via the navigation in a top bar. In addition, you can add further standard WordPress widgets below the main widgets, as well as a Flickr photo or featured video widget.

Great uses for Kerikeri could be a small food blog with photos of dishes and recipes, a personal diary, a wedding planning blog, a travel blog, or simply a small blog with your personal texts, inspirations and photos.

Theme options

Besides the dark and light theme version there are of course further ways to customize your blog with the Kerikeri theme. You can adjust the colours of the links and the link hover, choose your own background (have a look at the beautiful background patterns of Subtle Patterns), upload your own logo, favicon and Apple touch icon, and use the share buttons of Facebook, Twitter and Google+.
