# WordPress for Newbies #2: What are Widgets?

In the second video of our little [**"WordPress for Newbies" series**](https://elmastudio.de/en/tag/wordpress-for-newbies/), I will explain what *widgets and widget areas in WordPress* are. Since there are so many different widget options and the widget areas are different in every theme, I think it is quite difficult to understand the concept of widgets at the beginning of learning WordPress.
