# WordPress 3.5 Beta

The next WordPress version, 3.5, is scheduled for release on December 5. Since yesterday the first beta is available for testing, ideally through the [Beta Tester WordPress plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-beta-tester/). Testing a beta on a live site is not recommended though, a [local WordPress installation](https://elmastudio.de/wordpress-video-tutorial-teil1-wordpress-lokal-installieren/) is the best place for it.

The new default theme ["Twenty Twelve"](https://wordpress.org/themes/twentytwelve/) is now also available for self-hosted WordPress sites as a download from the WordPress.org theme directory.
