# Nori WordPress Theme for Blogs

## The Nori Theme Overview

Nori is our newest responsive, mobile-first WordPress theme. That means Nori has a flexible layout and is designed and developed especially for viewing on mobile devices. In contrast to a purely responsive theme, with Nori the complete development process (from design to programming) was reversed, and we worked our way up step by step from the smartphone view to larger screens such as tablets, laptop and desktop screens.

## Advantages of mobile-first

This concentration on mobile-first brings plenty of advantages. For example, the lack of space on mobile devices forces you to concentrate on the essential elements when designing a WordPress theme. This is how a clear, user-friendly design can emerge. This clarity naturally benefits the desktop view of the theme as well.

Images or JavaScripts can also be used only when they are really needed, with the help of CSS3 media queries. This can further reduce the loading time of a website, which is an important aspect especially on the mostly slow mobile web.

Concentrating on mobile devices at the beginning of a theme’s design and development process also improves functionality on touch screens. Larger buttons, doing without hover elements and optimizing readability on smartphones and tablets are just a few of the tasks.

## The theme options

Besides the flexible implementation for the most varied screen formats, Nori has practical theme options with which you can customize your blog in just a few steps.

The theme’s colours can be adjusted, for example for the background, the link colour and the default text colour.

There are further theme options for your own logo, the footer text and the share buttons of Twitter, Facebook and Google+.

## Post formats and post styling

In addition, you can set up your blog according to your own ideas with post formats, custom menus and widgets. It is also possible to show large-format images on your blog. The „image“ post format is particularly suitable for this.

So that images can be optimized for different screen formats, using the [„Adaptive Images“](https://elmastudio.de/programmierung/mit-adaptive-images-bilder-fur-responsive-webdesigns-optimieren/) script is highly recommended.

To make longer posts or pages livelier, you can use the CSS class „fullwidth“ in the single post view and in the Nori page template „Centercolumns“. This way images, graphics or multi-column texts can be displayed across the entire post width. Besides this special style option you can of course also include blockquotes, pullquotes, lists, images or videos in your posts to loosen up texts.
